Colby-Sawyer’s oldest tradition, which is 150 years in the making, is the college’s beloved Mountain Day. The President chooses a day each fall to surprise the community, ringing the bell in the cupola of Colgate Hall and cancelling all classes. Students, faculty and staff celebrate together by climbing Mount Kearsarge followed by a picnic lunch at the base of the mountain.
